Abbey Road Studios' Simon Gibson will lead the session at the Royal Academy of Engineering, London, on 11 May. Entitled 'Remastering and Audio Restoration at Abbey Road Studios', the AES UK Section's monthly lecture for May will chart the early history of EMI, the pioneering work of Alan Blumlein and the emergence of remastering techniques at Abbey Road (pictured).
Gibson will then discuss the use of CEDAR Audio's Retouch software during work on last year's remastered Beatles catalogue, as well as its role in the creation of video games 'The Beatles Rockband'. There will also be an opportunity to hear rare audio extracts from EMI's archives, as well as clips from The Beatles' recordings to demonstrate remastering and restoration techniques.
The session will start at 18.30 (for 19.00) on Tuesday 11 May. Full information is available via the link below.
