Skywalker Sound purchased the first CEDAR DNS1000 Dynamic Noise Suppressor

CEDAR DNS1000

19 January 2001

We are now able to announce that Skywalker Sound, the state of the art audio post-production company, used the first CEDAR DNS1000 off the production line to post the new Tom Hanks film 'Castaway'. When edited, the background sea-breezes and surf were discontinuous, so they were suppressed using the dialogue noise suppressor, and new recordings could then be overlaid in post.

Managing Director, Gordon Reid comments, "I am delighted that Skywalker Sound purchased the first DNS1000. They approached us on the day that we launched it at the recent AES Convention in Los Angeles and asked us rush a unit to them so that they could begin post-production the following week. We were able to do so, and everything worked out beautifully. We designed the DNS1000 to satisfy the needs of the world's most prestigious and demanding users, and we seem to have achieved that with the very first unit. As a Managing Director, I can't ask for more than that!"

About the DNS1000 dialogue noise suppressor

The free-standing DNS1000 is a breakthrough in noise suppression, and will remove rumble, hiss, whistles, broadband noise, and the 'shot' noise that often makes audio unusable. As with all CEDAR products, it has a simple but elegant user-interface, powerful capabilities, and will help its users avoid the expensive overdub sessions that may have otherwise been necessary. With virtually zero latency, its 40-bit multi-band processing is ideal for reducing noise from location sound, sound effects and dialogue.

Further details will be available shortly.
